The Undying Heart lets you craft the Ruin Weapon. When you kill the Undying King, you gain The Undying Heart and a unique mod. Take him down again, and this time, won’t get back up. This phase is a great time to use mods to distract foes. If you have enough firepower, it’s entirely possible to blast through this final phase by focusing everything on The Undying King. If you can manage it, the ideal place to start this phase is on the platform, which gives you a good vantage point to face the horde. He also summons a swarm of enemies to his side. Revive down allies, heal yourself, reload your weapons, and use ammo boxes if you need to and make sure to clear the room of enemies.Īfter a few seconds, he returns to life with a fraction of his maximum health. It’s imperative to get yourself into the best shape you can at this point. When you drop his health to zero, he enters an extended recovery phase. It’s tempting to attack using everything you have when you see this, but he is the Undying King. Watch your health if you’re having trouble dodging his sickles.Įventually, you’re going to whittle The Undying King’s health down to near zero. Rolling past him is more effective than going from him during this attack. It’s critical you time your dodge correctly during this phase. He is going to leap toward you to unleash a flurry of strikes or pause for a moment, and then attack. Get away from him when he summons them and be ready to dodge. Dodging and damaging The Undying KingĪfter the first wave of enemies gets cleared, there’s a chance the Undying King brings out two sickles. Any mod that lets you summon in allies is helpful during this phase to split them up, or using the flamethrower mod on the Spitfire weapon you can craft after beating Singe can thin the herd. When they spawn in, use the Rattle Weed mod if you have it to keep them distracted. While they go down much easier than the Vyr guards, they can easily overwhelm your party using numbers and speed. Obviously he gets up again, hence his title, but is easily burned down by beam rifles wielded by Jim and myself. In addition to the staff-wielding Vyr, The Undying King can call in swarms of mutants who use fast melee attacks. Once weak enough he heads over to his throne to regenerate while summoning a swarm of the man spiders but between our dogs and Jim's flame pistol, those never make it up the stairs leaving the idiot King open for all my strong melee attacks which kills him. His style has a fatal flaw though - back away until he does his jumping lunge and dodge AT him and he'll miss every swing. In his first mode, he is supported by Goa'uld attendants while he either summons pew pew orbs (which should be killed ASAP as they have low HP and don't move, to have one less thing shooting you) or, if he has his swords out does some lethal combos if he closes the distance which actually downs DL in this fight. Unfortunately for him, he is nowhere as strong as Claviger or the Hive. He offers us a key to the locked doors in the labyrinth in exchange for a creature's heart a creature that happens to be the guardian of another world and is doing a good job keeping the Root out so we decline this trade which enrages the monarch into a boss battle. The Undying King is a chatty fellow who once nuked this planet to eliminate the Root from it.
